21 Now when the king saw that Ammon could slay him, he began to plead with Ammon that he would spare his life.
22 But Ammon raised his sword, and said unto him: Behold, I will smite thee except thou wilt grant unto me that my brethren may be cast out of prison.
Did Ammon stop to pause and ponder here? How many of us have had that proposal from a king? I would submit- zero of us. But Ammon didn't need time. His desires were simply, heartfelt and came from love.
I believe this love is the water the king uses to water and nourish the faith seeds that are now planted in his heart.
So how can I apply these last few verses to my life and today? Should I remember Ammon, who relied fully on God and acted in faith and love? Should I remember the King? Nah. Not yet. (But his turn in my heart will come!) Should I remember Lamoni? Hmmm... I can only imagine what he was doing and thinking. I guess I'll go with Ammon. I will rely on God's power, promises and keep it simple -> everything boils down to faith and love.
